What is a dental bridge?
A dental bridge is a proven solution to safely “bridge” the gap created by missing teeth with natural-looking, artificial teeth. By using your adjoining natural teeth or dental implants as anchors, a fixed bridge permanently cements into place, making it much easier to eat, speak clearly and smile often.
When is a dental bridge recommended?
When you lose one or more teeth, the adjacent teeth will begin to shift to fill the space. You may begin to experience pain in your jaw and difficulty chewing because the teeth are no longer properly aligned. Over time, the bone may shrink, causing your face, cheeks and lips to look drawn and older. Sonoran Vista Dentistry can have a custom bridge made that fills the space, allowing your existing teeth to remain in place and maintaining your natural facial shape.
What is the process for getting a dental bridge?
On your first bridge appointment to our dental office, we’ll take an impression of your teeth and bite to create a perfect fitting bridge. The teeth on either side of the space will be prepared, or when several teeth are missing, we may use dental implants to support the bridge.
While waiting for the permanent bridge, you’ll wear a temporary bridge to protect your teeth. When the permanent bridge is ready, you’ll return to our office to have the bridge fitted, adjusted and cemented to your prepared teeth.
